If you have ever wondered why the landscape of Castle Howard features architecture inspired by ancient Egypt and Rome, why not join this walking tour to discover more?
Along the way the tour will take in the Avenue, exterior of the Gatehouse, and Medieval-style walls, before giving visitors the rare opportunity to go inside the Pyramid.
This outdoor walking tour will last 90 minutes, and we recommend wearing suitable footwear. Reduced Members price is available for this event. Please note that this tour will encounter staircases and is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users. Our other tours, such as the Sculpture (Grand) Tour or Castle Howard’s 21st Century Renaissance Tour are accessible for wheelchair users.

Opening times
The Gardens and Skelf Island Adventure Playground are open daily, from 10am (9am for Friends of Castle Howard) with last admission to the Gardens at 4pm.
The House opens to visitors from 18th April 2025. A visit in 2025 promises a grand reveal of a once-in-a-generation project transforming the House interiors, including restoring the lost Tapestry Drawing Room.
