Discover how to capture the fleeting beauty of seasonal flowers at Charleston in this inspiring day-long workshop
Begin with an exclusive tour of the walled garden, led by Charleston’s head gardener, Harry Hoblyn, where you’ll gather inspiration from the vibrant seasonal displays. Harry will share his expert knowledge on selecting the perfect varieties for pressing, ensuring you choose flowers that preserve their beauty long after they’ve been picked.
You’ll then learn the art of preparing and preserving these delicate specimens in your own flower press—yours to keep and use for years to come. From there, you’ll be guided through the process of composing and mounting your pressed flowers, creating a beautiful piece of artwork to take home. This workshop not only offers the skills to press flowers but also a deeper connection to the natural world and to uncover the creative legacy of Charleston.
The workshop includes an exclusive tour of the modernist home and studio at Charleston, providing a glimpse into its rich artistic history, as well as a private viewing of our latest exhibition 'Inventing Post-Impressionism: works from The Barber Institute of Fine Arts‘.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, including a delicious lunch made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
