Join us for a full day dedicated to sharing the stories, craftsmanship and activities that connects people with Windermere.
Join us between 10am-8pm on Saturday 28 June for a celebration of Windermere’s rich maritime heritage, traditional boating culture, and the many ways people connect with the lake.
On the water
This year’s festival features a variety of ways to explore the lake. Relax on a heritage boat trip or enjoy a special skippered sailing experience on Swallow from the 2016 film adaptation of Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons.
On land
For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there is a packed programme of engaging talks and heritage-focused stalls. Throughout the day, you can delve into Windermere’s fascinating history and learn more about the stories behind Windermere Jetty Museum’s collection.
Live Music
Let the lakeshore come alive with performances from Nobody’s Friends Shanty Group, Jon Dawes, Bossyking and Briar & Bramble. Craft beer from Fell Brewery and tasty street food will be served until 7pm. Lakeshore cafe is open until 8pm.
Creative activities for everyone
Families can take part in storytelling sessions led by Emily Hennessey, get creative with our drop-in watercolour workshops, have a go at knot-tying with Elaine, and explore the museum with our interactive seasonal trails. There’ll also be opportunities to sail a model boat across our Model Boat Pond with the Windermere Model Boat Club on hand to help.
