The Lake District’s, award-winning, Windermere Jetty Museum is dedicated to the boats, people and rich history of Windermere, England’s largest natural lake.
This spectacular museum and visitor destination is a vibrant, family-friend venue which champions industry and engineering in one of England’s most beautiful locations, the Lake District National Park. A working destination, committed to conserving, saving and sharing its internationally important collection, this museum is supported by a collection built by local builder and boat enthusiast, George Pattison.

Museum and Cafe
1 October – 31 October: Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 5pm
4 November 2025 – 29 March 2026: Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 4pm
30 March – 30 September 2026: Open daily 10am – 5pm
Windermere Jetty Museum will be closed on
Christmas Day and Boxing Day
The exhibition galleries will be closed Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 January 2026 for collections care (café and shop open as usual)
Please note that the café stops serving main meals at 3pm. Last orders for tea/coffee and tray bakes is 15 minutes before closing.
