Workshop: Re/Configure

4 June 2025
3-5pm
£5

Responding to Leonardo Drew’s exhibition, artists Leah Capaldi and Emily Woolley lead a creative workshop for artists.

The event explores circular economies, labour exchange and repurposing materials.

The session will use cyclical rhythms of making to dismantle and reconfigure objects.

This event is free for UAL Camberwell Students. Please email adoudu@southlondongallery.org to reserve a student ticket.

Who is this event for?

This event is open to everyone, but aimed at emerging artists who would like to share their practice with others and learn new skills.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Emily Woolley is a London-based artist and educator working across 2D and 3D outputs within an expanded notion of figuration encompassing her body, material bodies and the viewer’s body. She is currently undertaking a year-long scholarship with the Zsuzsi Roboz Art Trust at Morley College in London. She was a finalist for the National Sculpture Prize and has recently been awarded the prestigious Gilbert Bayes Award by the Royal Society of Sculptors. She is an Associate Lecturer at University of the Arts London (UAL).

Leah Capaldi has established an international reputation as an artist who has innovated and delivered challenging new work within a field of practice that first began to establish itself fifty years ago. By combining sculpture with performance, her work demonstrates the potential for new forms of practice, and the need for audiences and curators to learn how to cope with these new environments. Capaldi reflects upon the learning that has taken place among the spectators of art since the 60s and re-presents it as a challenge that makes us reflect our experience in the gallery back onto our everyday lives, allowing her to introduce new ideas such as gender and identity.
