The Tunnellers Club returns with a brand-new series of hands-on, eco-friendly workshops designed especially for families.

Join us this June as the Tunnellers Club returns with a brand-new series of hands-on, eco-friendly workshops designed especially for families with children aged 5–11.

Since launching in October 2022, the Tunnellers Club has welcomed families into the fascinating world of science, engineering, and invention, inspired by the Thames Tunnel and its brilliant builders. This summer, we’re exploring creativity through sustainability, with fun activities that celebrate making, mending, and mindful crafting.

From colourful dyes and clay creations to learning how to fix clothes or weave with waste, each session offers a joyful opportunity to learn new skills together while caring for the planet.

Explore what’s on below – and come get curious with us!

Clothes Mending for Beginners

Sunday 1st June

Learn how to patch up holes in a fun and decorative way! This hands-on session introduces families to simple, creative mending techniques that give clothes a new life. Bring along something that needs mending, or try out different stitches and patches on our fabric scraps. We’ll cover common clothing fixes and help you build skills to repair rather than replace.

Natural Dyeing with Food Waste

Sunday 8th June

Turn your kitchen scraps into colour! Discover the magic of natural dyeing and experiment with tie-dye techniques using onion skins, avocado pits and more. A fun, eco-friendly workshop for curious families. Each family will experiment with different colours and patterns before dyeing a square cloth that can be turned into a napkin or a bandana.

Weaving with Waste

Sunday 22nd June

Get weaving on a simple cardboard loom using scrap fabric, yarn and recycled materials. This relaxing workshop teaches a mindful skill while turning waste into something beautiful. All material provided but feel free to bring material to upcycle.

Air-Dry Clay Making

Sunday 29th June

Make your own natural clay using simple kitchen ingredients, then shape it into a small dish or ornament to take home. We’ll take inspiration from nature, experimenting with textures and leaf imprints. A tactile, sensory workshop that’s perfect for all ages—and completely natural. All materials provided. Please see our images attach
