Description:
Assemblage made from pieces of discarded furniture. This is a pivotal early work marking the artist's transition in the early 1960s from collage and relief into three-dimensional sculpture using found objects and rubbish. The work combines aesthetic and material aspects of his practice which later expanded to include performance, installation art, sound work and photography influenced by Marxist counter-cultural politics.
