This drawing was donated by Max Rosenheim and Campbell Dodgson. Rosenheim presented over 170 works to the British Museum through the Art Fund between 1904 and 1911 including the first work to have entered the nation's collections through the Art Fund, Daniel Quare's Repeating watch. Max Rosenheim was a financier and part of the Executive Committee of the Art Fund from its inauguration. Dodgson donated 10 works on paper to the British Museum through the Art Fund between 1907 and 1928.
