York’s Defences in the Middle Ages
On 5 June 2019
14:00 until 15:30
It has been said that the history of York is the story of its defences. York has two and a half miles of medieval walls, many more than any other English city, together with castles and river defences. We shall walk some of the lesser-known sections of the wall, looking at its history and that of the other defensive structures.
Meet at Cliffords Tower for this walking tour which will involve some rough ground and uneven steps so please wear sensible shoes. It is not suitable for those with reduced mobility.
This event has been organised by the York & East Yorkshire Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
