How we work
Art Fund invests in the future of museums. We help UK museums and galleries to build collections, reach audiences, shape futures and make connections.
Art Fund invests in the future of museums. We help UK museums and galleries to build collections, reach audiences, shape futures and make connections.
We're known for our grant-giving programme, which provides millions every year to help museums acquire and share works of art, support the professional development of curators, and inspire and engage new audiences.
But our support goes beyond funding. As a champion for the UK's museums and galleries, we advocate for the sector in a number of ways, from lobbying government to running public appeals.
As an independent charity, we receive no government funding and are entirely supported by our members, who buy the National Art Pass, as well as by the generosity of many trusts, foundations and other individuals.
We use our independent voice to stand up and fight for museums' needs, campaigning publicly and behind the scenes on the issues that matter.
Our annual prize seeks out and celebrates innovation and achievement in museums and galleries across the UK.
As well as offering grants towards acquisitions, we help owners and collectors give art to museums and galleries through gifts and bequests.
