Rodrigo Moynihan, 1977–1978

© National Portrait Gallery, London

This portrait shows the sitter only a short while before his sudden death in May 1978. He published important monographs on Terbruggen, Joseph Wright of Derby, Georges de la Tour and others, his special interest being painters concerned with the dramatic effects of artificial light.
