Unknown artist, c. 1685

Pair of Charles II salvers which formed part of a toilet-service marked by the maker D, who is recorded as active in London circa 1685. Square with octagonal corners on high feet, with the usual octagonal moulded border enclosing engraved chinoserie decoration which differs between the two.
