Art Funded by you

Group of drawings of Kamchatkan natives

John Webber, 1779

Webber was official artist on Cook's Third Voyage of discovery. These 6 drawings are the first representation by a European artist of Kamchatka and its peoples. They show a humanity and sympathy with their subjects while at the same time providing a unique ethnographic 'field study' of early contacts.
