Art Funded by you

Golden Fields of Rice

Mutsumi Suzuki, 2009

© The artist's estate

The RAMM was one of five museums to win a share of £75,000 to buy their selected object thanks to Art Fund Collect, an initiative aimed at championing contemporary craft and increasing its presence in UK collections. This intricately crafted, multi-lacquered lidded object with gold motifs is a fine example of the oeuvre of this highly skilled lacquer maker. This piece meant a great deal to the artist and he wanted it to be placed in a public collection.
