Duncan Grant was closely associated with the Bloomsbury Group and lived from 1916 with Vanessa Bell at Charleston near Lewes in Sussex. His skill as a decorative painter, which he developed while working for Roger Fry's Omega Workshops during the 1914-18 war, is reflected throughout the house.
