Benedict Enwonwu, 1963

Benedict Enwonwu was born in Nigeria and exhibited remarkable talent from an early age. Following his studies at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, he began to work in a way which combined Modernism with an indigenous Nigerian style. Female Figure in Yellow now joins the growing collection of work by artists of the African diaspora held in the collection of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
