Helen Bradley, 1, 3) 1967; 2) 1969; 4–5) 1972
Helen Bradley was born in Lees, Lancashire and did not begin painting until her sixties. Many of her paintings are autobiographical, depicting events from her Edwardian childhood, and accompanied by a short written narrative. These five works greatly strengthen Gallery Oldham's holdings of this very popular local artist. Kindly donated by Derek and Elizabeth Jewell who were avid collectors of Helen BradleyÂ’s work and enjoyed an extended correspondence with the artist, commissioning several works directly from her.
