The Stained Glass Museum offers a unique insight into the fascinating story of stained glass, an art form that has been practised in Britain for at least 1,300 years.
Housed inside the spectacular Ely Cathedral, the museum is home to some of the earliest and contemporary modern stained-glass panels, as well as fascinating glassmaking tools and materials. The Museum Trust was set up in the 1970s to rescue and preserve stained glass and now houses a national collection of British and international works.
In 2021 the museum acquired a dazzling stained-glass panel by American painter Kehinde Wiley with Art Fund support ? Saint Adelaide (2014) is one in a series of panels depicting contemporary portraits of young black residents in Brooklyn, New York, and will be on permanent display in the museum.
Explore this unique and ancient art form at the only museum in the UK dedicated to displaying and interpreting stained glass for the public.
