Nursing stories and collections

Located in Cavendish Square in London, the museum offers two compact galleries filled with fascinating objects. Exhibits range from 1920s nurses’ bags and uniforms to contemporary artworks created from hospital textiles. Together, they reveal the history of nursing and the experiences of those who shaped it.

Engaging displays

The museum balances history with creativity. A stained-glass triptych designed with Royal College of Nursing members tells stories of birth, mental health and end-of-life care, while artist commissions highlight personal accounts of nurses today. Visitors gain fresh insight into the profession’s challenges and triumphs.

A living institution

Founded in 1916, the Royal College of Nursing remains dedicated to education, advocacy and support for nurses. Its museum reflects this mission, offering exhibitions and events that inspire debate about healthcare and celebrate those working in it.
