Y Lanfa Powysland Museum and Welshpool Library explores the archaeology and social history of the old county of Montgomeryshire.

From the earliest Stone Age settlers through to the Bronze and Iron Ages, there is a varied collection of Roman finds as well as medieval and post-medieval artefacts.

The social history galleries cover a variety of themes including the Montgomery canal, the local railways, agriculture, Victorian homes and crafts, the Montgomeryshire yeomanry and the two world wars.
