An underground wonder
Poole’s Cavern reveals a dramatic landscape sculpted through millions of years. Illuminated crystal formations fill the limestone chambers, while evidence of prehistoric and Roman-British activity tells a story of human life stretching back thousands of years.
Stories beneath the surface
Visitors can learn about the cavern’s geology and history, including its connections to Bronze Age metalworking and the story that Mary, Queen of Scots, once explored its depths.
Into the woods
Above ground, Buxton Country Park offers woodland trails, wildlife and panoramic views. Follow paths through Grin Low Woods towards Solomon’s Temple, overlooking Buxton and surrounding hills.
