National Waterfront Museum Swansea delves into the story of Wales' industrial and maritime history.

Occupying a stunning location on Swansea Marina, the museum seamlessly blends a modern glass and slate building with a Grade II listed warehouse. The unique structure creates a space within which to discover the story of Wales’ industrial revolution and innovation over the last 300 years.

Explore Wales’ industrial past

The museum boasts a diverse collection relating to Wales’industrial past, including a replica of the world's first steam locomotive, the iconic Puffing Billy. You'll also encounter fascinating artefacts like a tinplate rolling mill and a rare surviving coal wagon. You can also discover more about the origins of influential organisations and communities, such as the Trade Unions, Miners Association and National Health Service.

Interact with innovation

Try the latest sensory technology that responds to hand gestures for a truly interactive experience. Explore the industrial landscape with a panoramic video map, or learn about real lives from the past through digital street maps.

Made in Wales

Items that were manufactured in Wales from the 1930s up to the present day are on display in the Made in Wales gallery, including Corgi toys and Spectrum computers.

Temporary exhibitions and events

The museum runs a program of temporary exhibitions that explore contemporary Welsh industry and innovation as well as delving into the past. The museum also plays host to a variety of events throughout the year, including film screenings, talks, family-friendly activities, and craft workshops. There is also a cafe shop and garden area on the site.
