The newly extended Chelmsford Museum includes archaeology and coins (including items purchased with Art Fund support), local and social history, and natural history.
The fine art collection concentrates on artists from Essex, including Lynton Lamb and Edward Bawden; decorative arts include the Tunstill collection of 18th-century drinking glasses and ceramics by Edward Bingham of Castle Hedingham, Joanna Constantinidis and Grayson Perry. The new extension contains displays on Chelmsford's industries, and the Essex Regiment Museum.
