The interiors of this Elizabethan mansion are filled with fine furniture, paintings and sculpture, a library of 5,000 books and a remarkable 18th-century 'Cabinet of Curiosities' containing fossils, natural history specimens and the most important collection of scientific instruments to be found in any country house. Visitors can also see the stable lad's bedchamber, a blacksmith's shop, tack rooms and the skeleton of a 60-foot sea monster. The house is set in 300 acres of parkland, woodland and parkland walks and a nature trail.
