Discover the remarkable story of anaesthesia and the work of anaesthetists
The Anaesthesia Museum tells the remarkable story of anaesthesia and the work of anaesthetists. The collection spans the entire history of the profession, from anaesthesia’s first public demonstration in 1846, to topics such as childbirth, resuscitation and emergency medicine, and anaesthetic practices during COVID-19.
Formed in 1953, the heritage team now care for over 13,000 items across the museum, library, and archive collections. They actively engage audiences throughout the year with a programme of group visits, talks, late events, and family activities.
