Exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of LS Lowry, and 13 years since his last significant institutional show.
A British painter best known for his industrial landscapes of northwest England, he worked in a distinctive style, using just five colours of undiluted oil paint: ivory black, vermillion, Prussian blue, yellow ochre and flake white. Yet little is known about his work beyond his iconic industrial scenes, which included landscapes and seascapes to portraits and surreal imaginings.
