Experience a major exhibition dedicated to how the Pre-Raphaelites were influenced by poetry. Led by John Everett Millais, William Holman Hunt and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the Pre-Raphaelites were connected by their adoration of literature, from medieval writer Geoffrey Chaucer to the Romantic poet John Keats. These literary works provided a rich source of inspiration for the artists, who transformed the stories into elaborate paintings that were distinctly modern for their time.

In this exhibition, over 100 works of art go on display, including works that have never been exhibited in Newcastle before. As well as Millais, Holman Hunt and Rossetti, encounter works by other artists such as Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris, as well as important women artists of the time, including Elizabeth Siddall, Kate Bunce, and Julia Margaret Cameron.
