Exploring how our soils and seas are interconnected as part of a sophisticated web of life
Edge: Where the Land Meets the Sea is the first of two landmark shows commissioned by Hastings Contemporary which respond directly to the gallery’s location on a shingle beach to address urgent themes, including ocean futures and sustainability.
Staged across the gallery, Edge features work from the early 20th century to the present day by a diverse group of artists, including Anya Gallaccio, Wolfgang Tillmans, Barbara Hepworth, Martin Parr, and Massimo Bartolini.
It offers a wide ranging understanding of the coast, moving from biodiversity and the natural environment to human relationships with the shore.
