First major London exhibition of artist-filmmaker explores fictional decaying cryonics lab.
Multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker Jenkin van Zyl’s first major London exhibition will present Enclosure, a film set in a decaying cryonics facility in the English countryside. The work of art explores dual themes of promise and cruelty, as the facility is intended to contain memory, grief, and identity, yet requiring endless maintenance to sustain what it was meant to protect.
The project was developed during a residency at Somerset House Studios, and will present the new single-channel film alongside an accompanying installation in the New Wing of Somerset House.
