DanFong Wang: The Sparkle, The Blossom and The Milky Land

15 August - 1 November 2026
Wednesday - Sunday, 12-5pm
Free to all

Taiwanese artist DanFong Wang presents her first UK solo exhibition consisting of moving image, textile and sculpture.

For The Sparkle, The Blossom and The Milky Land DanFong presents her 2024 animation, with new embroidery work and soft sculpture referencing Catholic and Buddhist funerary practices to explore themes of gender and motherhood. By contrasting and comparing both Eastern and Western religious systems, DanFong reflects on how women are positioned through ideas of sacrifice, purity and reproduction.

DanFong was selected by independent curator A---Z (Anne Duffau) as the winner of our 41st Annual Open in 2025, London’s longest-running democratic exhibition and a rare opportunity for all artists at any stage of their career to submit work without a selection criteria.

This exhibition is generously supported by Breckman & Company and Arts Council England.
