Striking photographic portraits by Catherine Opie investigate identity, intimacy and community.
Catherine Opie: To Be Seen presents nearly 80 striking photographic portraits in Opie's first solo exhibition in Scotland.
Opie’s subjects range from queer communities and collaborators to children, surfers, high school footballers and political crowds, alongside self-portraits that span three decades of her career. Her work interrogates ideas of home, intimacy, family, identity and power, drawing on historical references such as Hans Holbein while creating new contemporary narratives.
