A diverse exhibition celebrating printmaking techniques, creativity, and artistic exploration by Cumbrian printmakers.
Exploration and Discovery is an exhibition by Cumbria Printmakers, a cooperative of individual artists united by a shared passion for printmaking in all its forms. Acting as champions of the medium, Cumbria Printmakers works to promote printmaking through exhibitions, events, and workshops that introduce new audiences to its creative possibilities and inspire deeper engagement.
This exhibition showcases the rich diversity of printmaking practices undertaken by Cumbrian artists, highlighting the distinctive effects achieved through a wide range of traditional and contemporary techniques. Visitors are invited to explore processes such as relief, intaglio, screen printing, and experimental approaches, gaining insight into how each method shapes the final image.
The works on display reflect individual artistic voices and interpretations, featuring subjects drawn from the natural world, people, and places of Cumbria and beyond. Together, the exhibition offers an engaging journey through the versatility of printmaking and the inventive ways artists use the medium to express ideas, stories, and landscapes.
