Marking the 300-year anniversary of John Vanbrugh, Blueprints of Power celebrates the architect, dramatist and political thinker whose flamboyant creativity shaped the English Baroque. The exhibition takes visitors on an immersive journey through Vanbrugh’s life, from his early theatrical career to his high-stakes partnership with Sarah Churchill, first Duchess of Marlborough, revealing the rivalries, genius and ambition behind his work.
The show features rare archival material, striking costumes and displays that bring Vanbrugh’s dramatic world to life. Blueprints of Power forms part of the UK-wide celebrations and will include a programme of lectures, events and exhibitions across six of his most significant buildings.
