Experience the first UK museum exhibition focusing on Lucian Freud’s works on paper.
Drawing into Painting is the first UK museum exhibition devoted to Lucian Freud’s works on paper, revealing the artist’s extraordinary skill in drawing with pencil, ink, charcoal and etching. Spanning the 1930s to the early 21st century, it explores Freud’s lifelong fascination with the human figure and portraiture, highlighting the dialogue between his preparatory drawings and finished paintings.
Both familiar and previously unseen works of art will be on display, including new acquisitions from the Freud estate, such as etchings and trial proofs. Highlights include an etching of the artist’s fashion-designer daughter, Bella Freud, which will feature alongside archive research and previously unseen materials.
