An international exhibition showcasing innovative contemporary textile art from leading artists across fifteen countries.

Avant Garde – International Textile Exhibition returns in 2026 with a compelling global showcase of contemporary textile art. Featuring work by internationally acclaimed artists from fifteen countries, the exhibition celebrates innovation, experimentation, and technical excellence in textile practice.

The exhibition presents the 30 finalists selected for Carrefour’s prestigious International Textile Contest, a highly regarded competition that attracts quilters and textile artists from around the world. Each year, a new theme is developed by the organising team, inspiring participants to spend months conceptualising and crafting original responses that push creative boundaries.

This exceptional collection highlights diverse approaches, distinctive styles, and forward-thinking techniques that redefine the possibilities of textile art today. Farfield Mill is proud to be the only UK venue included in this ten-month international touring exhibition, which visits galleries, museums, and major quilting events worldwide. UK audiences are offered a rare opportunity to experience world-class textile artistry firsthand from 7 January to 8 March 2026.
