This powerful exhibition showcases the creativity, strength, and resilience of women rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse.
Developed in collaboration with Falmouth University and West Cornwall Women’s Aid, Unsettled features work by women who have fled domestic abuse, using photography to explore and reflect on their journeys – from refuge and temporary accommodation and for some, settling into more stable homes. Through their images and words, the women examine both the physical and emotional spaces they have inhabited and continue to shape, revealing moments of uncertainty, resilience, and renewal.
This exhibition is part of 16 Days Penzance, a grassroots campaign dedicated to uniting the local community in efforts to end violence against women and girls. Each year, the group participates in the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign — an international initiative led by UN Women — aligning Penzance with a worldwide movement advocating for equality, safety, and justice.
