Painting everyday life as a gateway to memory, intimacy and imaginative vision.
Winifred Nicholson and Andrew Cranston explore the poetry hidden in ordinary domestic scenes, interiors, figures and glimpses of nature. Despite being separated by a century, their works share a fascination with memory, imagination and quiet, intimate moments.
Nicholson travelled widely, while Cranston remains rooted in Glasgow, yet their approaches to colour, light and atmosphere sit harmoniously together. Each painting evokes both the familiar and the visionary, offering viewers a fresh perspective on how everyday life can be transformed into subtle, contemplative art that lingers long after leaving the gallery.
