Museo Jumex in Residence (Part 2)

10 September 2025 - 11 January 2026
Free to all

Discover works from the Museo Jumex, Mexico City, in a new collaboration with the South London Gallery.

This group exhibition features works by 13 international artists from the Colección Jumex, presented as part of Museo Jumex’s residency at the South London Gallery, which began in May 2025.

Through sculpture, painting, performance and installation, the show explores how identities and emotions are shaped and expressed on stage, on screen and in everyday life.

Pedro Reyes’s Museum of Hypothetical Lifetimes is an interactive installation where visitors reflect on their own life through a guided conversation with a performer playing the role of a therapist. Ana Segovia’s cinematic paintings reimagine 1980s teen films through a queer lens. Isa Genzken’s mannequin series explores stereotypes of creatives and Clotilde Jiménez’s new bronze sculpture Leopoldo introduces a character from his opera The Grotto, commissioned by the Museo Jumex in 2024.

A performance of James Lee Byars’s The Perfect Kiss will occur throughout the exhibition. Originally conceived by Byars in the 1970s, a solitary figure will enter the gallery blowing a kiss to the audience.

The exhibition also features work by Daniela Rossell, Tala Madani, Liliana Porter, Álvaro Urbano, Annette Messager, Bruce Nauman, Eva Koťátková, and Bas Jan Ader.

About Museo Jumex

Museo Jumex, Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo’s main platform, opened its doors to the public in November 2013 as an institution devoted to contemporary art. Its aim is not only to serve a broad and diverse public, but also to be a laboratory for experimentation and innovation in the arts. Through its exhibitions, publications, research, and public programmes, Museo Jumex familiarises audiences with the concepts and contexts that inform current art practice. Using critical and pedagogical tools, the museum’s educational programmes further the institution’s commitment to build links between contemporary art and the public.
