An intimate reimagining of healthcare, memory and queer experience through collected objects.
Claye Bowler presents an installation that reworks his own medical journey into an archive of memory and emotion. Using film, drawings, sculpture and personal objects, he shares the challenges and triumphs involved in accessing gender-affirming surgery.
The presentation blurs fact and fiction, echoing the language of museum storage and Bowler’s professional experience as a museum registrar, while questioning what stories cultural institutions choose to keep. Rather than centring struggle, the work offers a vivid reflection on trans joy, resilience and belonging, giving personal experience a powerful public voice.
