Colourful oils, watercolours and abstracts exploring light on water, the joy of wine, and Salisbury’s buildings and gardens.

I’m a local artist who specialises in painting, and I would describe myself as a colourist.

Let me introduce myself – my childhood was spent drawing whenever I could, mostly farm animals, especially cows! At 15, I sold my first painting, of a beautiful thatched pub in Dorset, for £80 (which, back in the ’80s, seemed like a lot of money!). Since then, I have completed numerous commissions of homes and gardens, classic cars, old aeroplanes and, later on, large abstract artworks and striking landscapes.

Alongside a teaching career that spanned 20 years in local primary and prep schools, I continued to paint, exhibiting in several local businesses and undertaking large commissioned projects for international corporate companies, which I loved. It wasn’t until I decided to make painting my primary business venture that I became increasingly obsessed – and so happy. That was when I knew it was the best decision I had ever made.

Following a very recent and successful solo exhibition at Fisherton Mill, and in the run-up to opening my own little gallery (yes, I’ve actually bought a shop in the city centre), I am thrilled to be exhibiting at one of my favourite buildings in Salisbury – Arundells. Here, I have three (continually emerging) collections to share with you:

Eau et LumièreThis contemporary collection explores the colourful relationship between water and light, capturing the magical moment when they fuse to create an intense and beautiful energy. These paintings are predominantly larger oils and blend impressionist, abstract and expressionist techniques.

Études du VinMy most recent emerging collection, this is an elixir of still-life wine paintings exploring the intense sensory experience and interplay of observation and appreciation.

Architecture & FeuillageA larger collection encompassing many colourful, well-detailed watercolours (many of which depict views in the Close) and a few unique oil paintings, where I have subconsciously expressed my deeper connection with past artists from my enigmatic childhood.
