(YAK) showcases how young people use the Internet to portray themselves and the world around them.
Who are you online?
Ever thought about how your online persona reflects who you are?
From avatars to filters, usernames to fonts, the internet offers countless ways to express yourself.
YAK: Culture of Curiosities curated by our Young Art Kommunity (YAK) showcases how young people are at the forefront of exploring how technology shapes who we are – and how we want to be seen.
Featuring a mix of 2D drawings, paintings, wall murals, clay and paper sculptures, collage, print, and digital works, the exhibition brings together personal and collective perspectives on digital identity, online culture, and self-expression.
These works have been produced through a series of group workshop sessions. As well as creating and curating ideas collectively, individuals have been encouraged to explore and express their personal views on what digital culture means to them.
This exhibition has been supported by the Big Give Arts for Impact, Arts Council England, Essex County Council and Colchester City Council.
The artists would like to thank everybody who donated to our Big Give For YAK campaign.
