A multi-faith, contemporary perspective on early Indian sacred art told through 180 objects.
Featuring over 180 sculptures, paintings, drawings and manuscripts, this major exhibition traces the origins and spread of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain sacred art, revealing how ancient Indian nature spirits evolved into the divine figures we recognise today.
Additionally, with the arrival of South Asian diaspora communities to the UK, these living traditions and their devotional art have become part of British culture, making this exploration of sacred imagery as relevant today as it was centuries ago.
