Exploring the depiction of women’s lives through portraiture and reflection.

Looking at Her delves into portraiture’s diverse forms, presenting figurative, abstract and imagined depictions of women’s lives. Featuring portraits of writers, poets and activists alongside introspective works evoking domestic spaces and diary entries, it probes how women see themselves and are perceived by others.

A central theme is the mirror, symbolising the complex multiplicity of identity. The show includes Trupti Patel’s totemic ceramic sculpture inviting viewers to look within, alongside works that focus on relationships and encounters rather than individual likenesses. All works come from The Women’s Art Collection or long-term loans.
