Blackpool’s untold wartime story of resilience and community spirit
Wartime Blackpool reveals the town’s vital role during the Second World War through rare objects and deeply personal stories. This powerful exhibition explores Blackpool as a centre for entertainment, evacuees, and Allied airmen training, including the Polish pilots who prepared here.
Featuring loans from the Imperial War Museum, Lancashire County Museum Service and the British Cartoon Archive, it brings to life the courage and endurance of performers, landladies, RAF heroes and everyday locals. More than a historical account, the exhibition celebrates the community spirit that kept hope alive during dark times.
