Showing the global expansion of Whiteway's Cyder Company from its origins in a Devon village
Whiteway’s Cyder Company was founded in the village of Whimple in Devon by Henry Whiteway in the 1890s, and went on to dominate the cider market both in Britain and abroad for much of the twentieth century.
This display examines a period of major expansion for the company looking particularly at apple production, advertising, and exports. It is presented as part of the Festival of Devon in the 1920s – a series of more than forty events and exhibitions taking place across Devon in 2025 recording what life was like in the county one hundred years ago.
