The Glass Heart

27 January - 21 April 2024

An insight into the evolution of 170 years of glass as an art form

A bold exploration of glass in the UK, showcasing rarely seen works from key collections. The Glass Heart celebrates the remarkable qualities of glass: unforgiving, fragile, strong, and sustainable. Tracing back to the mid-19th century, the exhibition highlights key moments in the UK's glassmaking history, portraying glass as an experimental art form.

From molten states to reflective final forms, the artworks shine a light on endangered traditions while pushing boundaries. Join the celebration of makers who have shaped this expressive medium over 170 years, exploring the artistry, ingenuity, and evolution of glassmaking skills in the UK. Conceived and curated by Antonia Harrison.
