Immerse yourself in an expansive installation by contemporary artist Pope.L, who uses philosophy and theatre to interrogate society, politics and contemporary culture.
Best known for his provocative performances and installations, Pope.L (AKA William Pope.L) uses gender and race to explore societal and cultural systems, conflicts and beliefs via waiting, painting, performance, installation, sculpture and video. He will transform South London Gallery's Main Gallery into an installation of collapsing tower blocks, based on a seminal performance, Eating the Wall Street Journal (2002).
A set of new shelf works displaying cheap alcohol bottles will be shown across both the Main Gallery and in the Fire Station. Small Cup (2008), a video of goats and chickens destroying a seed-coated model of the US Capitol Building, will be screened in the Fire Station.
