PRESS: Original Prints by RWA Academicians

31 October 2023 - 10 December 2024
Tuesday - Sunday, 10am - 5pm
Free to all

Work by over 20 RWA Academicians who use print as part of their art practice.

Printmaking is often used by artists whose work might crossover different areas of expertise. Whether making a print is the instantaneous mark making of a monotype describing the starting point of a concept or a more consuming formal drawing made onto a metal plate; printmaking is an accessible art practice and open to all levels of ability.

Over twenty RWA Academicians have selected prints from their own collections which reflect their subject of interest and their own particular use of the print medium. The artists explore their concerns and ideas through traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques and materials.

This overview of printmaking is informative and wide reaching in its curation. Encompassing such diverse themes as soaring mountainous landscapes and the picturesque of a rural setting, the natural world juxtaposed with the constructed world of object and cityscape, the cosmos and the mythical, family ancestry and the crisis of endangered species or simply the use of both chance and control in the printmaking process.
