British artist Sarah Lucas challenges perceptions of gender, sex, and class in this landmark retrospective.
Celebrated British artist Sarah Lucas challenges societal norms through her provocative use of everyday imagery, challenging the viewer’s understanding of humanity. The exhibition is a four-decade exploration of human experience, using household objects in unconventional ways to confront widely held perceptions of gender, sex, and class.
Happy Gas spans sculpture, installation, and photography, with narration voiced by Lucas herself, extending far beyond the 1990s and the Young British Art scene. Through humour and daring statements, Lucas’ work is a tender, boundary-breaking exploration into what, exactly, makes us human.
