Carrie Mae Weems
Explore the multidisciplinary work of Carrie Mae Weems, one of the most influential American multi-disciplinary artists still working today.
Born in 1953 in Portland, Oregon, Weems came to prominence in the 1980s and is renowned for her exploration of identity, power, desire and social justice through work that challenges representations of race, gender and class.
The exhibition is the largest display of Weems’s work in Europe to date and includes the iconic Kitchen Table Series (1990) of photographic portraits and the film installation The Shape of Things (2021) alongside other works spanning 30 years.
